We have decided to dedicate one of our south facing borders to just collerettes and singles in Tel's memory. Garden Friends did well for us this season but has always been a winner in our eyes as it was Tel who persuaded me to return to growing dahlias and he gifted stock to Che. Che was first person in Cornwall to have it and Che loves this memory. It is soon a year on but the legacy lives on RIP Tel.

What's going on with Garden News. A dahlia article by Dave Gillam, and not one picture of our National Champion!! I've sent email of complaint to the editor . Can't believe a national publication went to press without a picture of our National Champion. Hehehehe
Okay, so I'm bored.......All tubers cleaned, trimmed and dusted, and now sitting in their winter bed. Greenhouse swept, and fan and heater on. Suppose I'll have to start talking to the wife now.......roll on January .
Happy storage everyone...

I'm going to contact the geezer who does the column, his name escapes me at the moment!! And get this shocking state of affairs sorted out .
On another note; Has anybody got a spare tuber of Weston Buccaneer. Happy to pay, or swap.

I have got a spare tuber of Weston Buccaneer. In fact I have put a list of my spares on a separate thread. I would prefer to swop rather than sell: what have you got spare? Perhaps it would be best to reply via a personal message???

Hi everyone, I Have most of tubers set aside for winter but left my Kiwi Gloria, ruskin myra and Clearview edie in the poly tunnel. I was taken into hospital suddenly last week with a heart problem, before I could store them for the winter and guess what? we had -4 to -5 degree frost, and poly tunnels although get hot in the summer they get damn cold in the frost. I Got out of hospital this morning and I think I may have lost them So has anyone have a spare tuber or division they can spare?, I will gladly pay for them and all postage costs

Hi Alan, they should be fine in the poly tunnel, just dig one up and have a look, but I am sure they will be fine I don't really think we have had any really bad weather to kill them just yet. They only thing that usually happens is that the necks sometimes go a little soft but if there is no rain getting on to them as I say they should be fine. I have often left tubers in my tunnel until after Christmas and they have been fine. Good luck.
Hope you are feeling a bit better health wise Alan.
Regards Ian

Hi Alan, sorry to hear about your hospital visit. Hopefully you're on the mend now. I've got one plant of Ruskin Myra in a large garden pot. I'll pull it out tomorrow and if its decent, I'll pack it and post it to you.

Thanks for the well wishes, I went in with a suspected heart attack , in fact it was an irregular heartbeat I am feeling better now but a very scary experience
Ian, the tubers were not in the ground, they were laid on a bench ready for storing , my wife took me to the allotment this morning and the max /min thermometer in the poly registered -4 they feel a bit pappy on the outside, do you think it will have killed off the eyes?
johndoe , thanks for your offer, gladly pay for it and the postage

Alan if the crown is still sound they may be ok. I would get them inside and take it from there see if they remain firm around the crown. They might just fire up when its time to apply a little heat
