Well done all of you on the show benches I admire your dedication to the art of dahlia growing. Some of mine have come so late that were I to be showing I wouldn't, if you see what I mean. Have got some cracking Bryn Terfel and Debra Ann Craven, eventually, reminder to oneself: must do better next year! Mind you, I am cutting close on a 1,000 stems a week for New Covent Garden Flower Market and others so I can't complain That is a lot of blooms Richard, glad to hear they are going so well.

Back from my day out at halls and still none the wiser of which other small semi cactus to grow.Other varieties that caught my eye were a small ball called grayval gem lovely flower but a very low grower only about two and a half feet tall and a medium dec called ryecrfot rebel good size and very clean considering it was outside. He also has a seedling of his own, a dark leaf yellow collerette called hoh ,I would not of normally given a collerette another glance but this was something special ,dark purple leaves and a beautiful yellow flower which at the time we were looking at it was covered in butterflies pity its not for sale yet I might have ordered some .
On another note I handed a letter into the allotment chairman this morning asking for another alltoment when one becomes available.I need to wait for the right time to tell the wife.

DC How do you know your wife won't enjoy even more time to herself? You are going to be very busy and you have proved that you get results. You will just have to point out that this is your time. No good when you are 80. I wish you success in getting another allotment.

Gave you a few answers and pictures to Ruskin Andrea and Ryecroft Rebel in the shrewsbury show thread. Both IMO are well worth persevering with. Andrea will definitely need growing on a double stop and then letting it go all the way with little disbudding, so should be ideal for late shows. The 2nd flush i have at the moment are still a good size and colour. Rebel is a good size and on a single stop in my garden will take 7 blooms easily. So bearing in mind how you grow the pastelles you'd probably get 8 off a plant easily.

I don't think you had taken it all on board when I met you. You could not be described as demonstrative.
