Well done moonlight, wisley and harrogate for you next year.Been to the trials at leeds today with my society and a lot of people were interested in Tels Birkensaw Wyns favourite. There is a lot of good looking blytons a one called shiraz took my eye it is not unlike george marston but had much better centres. As soon as I get time(don't know when) I have photos to put on.I am starting to sweat now on how much I will have for harrogate with the cooler temps really slowing them down, might be struggling for a great choice of small decs and oakwood goldcrest looks extremely doubtful .I WILL learn to leave them be one year.

Been really cold over night here. I have read that if blooms are a couple of days behind you can pick and put in tepid water to open them up - anyone tried this with any great success?

Simon, This is quite true !! providing they dont have green centers. If they do dont waste your time as they will not close up. When cutting for show you should be looking for blooms with a good bit of center, nut too much or their bum end will blow before the center is at its best.

Will have to go down to the allotment tomorrow, there is a lot of dahlia stems, that need a ring of Vaseline. Boring job. but essential....if you don't want them chewed !!......I'm expecting to see some of your seedlings at Harrogate......no pressure !...lol Not sure about Garden Friends for Harrogate, its been flowering a fair while now and the stems are now getting shorter, Wyn's Favourite was thinking about entering it in the seedling classes, but I have not entered it. When I cut anything for Harrogate (a big if at the moment) if there is 3 decent blooms of Wyn's I can make a late entry on the day.
