If I was growing for the small cactus championship then I would want it yes it looks good plenty of petal in it. I think Les Jacksons new one Hillcrest Jersie is a better option than Sue's Kilmorie which has been around a couple of seasons. Like the parent it does very well outside. good early flowering-and certainly plenty of petal! It does have a soft peach flush when grown under cover. We grew it outside. Unfortunately we didn't get it down to Harrogate as our timing was a week out- we knocked them back as they were coming too early! Les's looks good. Got my eye on it at Wisely where it did look very good and everyone did seem to be talking about it. Came across Sue's Kilmorie at Shepton back in 2011. Shame Kilmorie has been pulled out of the classified list this time round! It is one of my favourites even though it doesn't get shown much. Kilmorie was classed as SSC but suggestion is that Sue's Kilmorie should be an SC?

Can I ask what people think of senzoe Ursula ? I like the colour We used to grow it many years ago. If I remember it could be a bit weak stemmed so needed extra attention (more potash) but main problem was getting decent tubers and enough cuttings off the ones that survived. It still gets grown and shown but I get the impression it is one of those varieties that you either can grow it- or you can't!

It is not a great problem it being classified as a semi as if the lads are looking at Harrogate then they can use both cactus and semi cactus. Not a problem Kilmorie being deleted from the classified you can still show it. I can think of a few I wouldn't mind being de classified. as you say Sues Kilmorie would be better double stopped to get the petal count down slightly. Most cactus and semi cactus will grow fine outside, but most are better form grown on the edge or under the covers

Raymond Scrumpy has good stock of Senzoe it is slightly weak on the stems but has the best form of a true Decorative and a cracking colour. Lots of decs these days have a tendency to lean towards the ball side. Yes you will have to give it potash and cane the blooms when they open to be safe

Thank you dahliadave and ian I have shortlisted senzoe as well. I think that a pink suffusion will look good together. Maybe Kilburn rose next to it. For a nice display. If doing a fim which I want to do for display would you pick Nenekazi white lace Jean Ellen Hapet perfect

Sounds like it did ian hahaha mainly for display but there is a three bloom class I can enter with it. Also need 3 distinct colour and classes for individual bloom. So gives me another option. Saw white lace in Kent and it is a very attractive fimbriated. Quite an elegant flower

No Raymond I have not seen it. I have been in touch with Ken a number of times this year- in fact we put out "Charlie Dimmock" for him a number of years ago. As you said earlier- a lovely guy! I like the look of a few of the others Ken has for garden use and hope to try a few more. As for the fims, we used to grow Nenekazi- but no one wanted it, Jean Ellen we found was a few rows of petal short, White Lace looked good at Wisley, Not spotted Hapet Perfect yet. Fims are not everybody's cup of tea. We put them on a trade stand and everybody goes WOW!, put them in the catalogue and the wow doesn't translate to orders unfortunately.

Thanks dahliadave guess it's only really grown for garden use. If a fim was to be shown in a major championship entry and it won maybe things would change. Doing 3 of kens dahlias Mayan pearl, dame Deirdre and strike a light which is my avatar. I will probably do Charlie dimmock as well but a single plant.

Grew Nargold, Nenkazi and Hapet Perfect this year. Got a great display from Hapet perfect and Nenekazi, but Nargold was a bit disappointing. Hapet Perfect Nenekazi A disappointing Nargold. Never got much better than this, before the petals began dropping.
