Never had my allotment inspected by any of the horticultural societies i show at. Its a shame really because they would never come again, after i had bored them silly for a couple of hours talking about dahlias. ;D

Cherry, I couldn't be that mean to them, their lives must be sad enough as it is.
I find it all quite sweet, she/they can come round and I will make them feel welcome. I’ll show them my dahlias and listen to them tell me how it wasn’t them who said I had cheated but as members of the committee they had to check. How dim do they think I am?

You could give them a pic of your dahlias as a memento of their visit to your garden ;D

Danny is the one who always wins the cup, I thought he was OK but I'm wondering now if it could have been him. I have been toying with the idea of giving him a few of my old tubers for next year, he lost quite a few of his last winter and he doesn't know about growing the best flowers from cuttings. I said this would be my last Teigngrace show but if there was someone else entering with exactly the same flowers, that would be far more fun.

:oYour problem WF...is that you are too nice!! At first I thought that Cherry's idea was superb ;D ;D...but then thought..well you have to live there so maybe not such a good idea for a small place (still a cracking idea though ). Arn't they just a pathetic lot If your OH just happened to be hanging around with his camera.....

It's really sad how petty some people can be.No wonder not so many people show it's not exactly encouraging entries is it? They will soon see you won fair and square and the others are just sore losers!

A very successful garden visit by the chair person and two dahlia growing, nosey parkers. They desperately wanted to have a look around the whole garden but I told them I had two deadlines to meet today so I didn’t have time. That was a little white lie, the deadline is Friday but it answered the “I could do that well if I was home all day with nothing else to do” comments. If they wanted to see my garden they should have coughed up £2.50 for Devon Air Ambulance like everyone else.
I offered them some flowers but they all turned me down, talk about cutting your own nose off to spite your face, they have sadder lives than I first thought.

I think I would be asking for one, in the same pleasant manner in which they treated you. This took a meeting of a few people to get three around. I thought that was deliberately meant to be intimidating. They were trying to make you feel uncomfortable. I really don't like their tactics. Just thought of another point. You ought to let them know that you will probably show at the next big show, where you would still win prizes.

They are just jealous. Ii would write to the committee proposing a new class for their show next year, one class for your show dahlias and a class for the clique for their garden dahlias. To be honest if WF gave them all the same variety that she has grown so superbly, they would not beat her, because they would not have a clue on how to grow them. ;D
