This was the most exciting thing in their lives this year, they will dine out on this story for years (although they will not stick to the complete truth). I feel incredibly lucky that I have a life.

I am pleased you didn't show them round your garden WLF - cheeky b*****s! I hope they felt really embarrassed at doubting you!I know it isn't very ladylike but I would have put 2 fingers up behind their backs as they were leaving ;D

I find it amazing that they had the cheek to expect a tour round your garden

I am still disgusted, but then I know people in Teignmouth who would fall into that category so I am not surprised.

There is a lot of pettiness in Devon, it is easy to ignore when you have lived with it for so long.
My second go with my dahlias is not going so smoothly. For my first show it was easy because there were so few flowering stems, now there are loads, all at different stages. I can't walk between the plants anymore so I'm going to have to take the netting down (if I can). The runner beans have decided to grow through it, so have some of the dahlias. Apart from that, it is all looking good.

They are just jealous. Ii would write to the committee proposing a new class for their show next year, one class for your show dahlias and a class for the clique for their garden dahlias. To be honest if WF gave them all the same variety that she has grown so superbly, they would not beat her, because they would not have a clue on how to grow them. ;D I believe you hit the nail on the head there Tel

I think it is a massive compliment that they don't think you could have grown that quality

I beg to differ. I think they are insulting and insufferable and any other words starting with 'i' - Ipswich.

I'll put it another way.....They are too stupid to realise it was a massive compliment by thinking Sue could not grow Dahlias of that quality

Apart from that, it is all looking good. If your village show was judged to NDS rules and had been in Sept, then we would have had to double stop the plants so the blooms would fit through the small judging ring. So we would have been talking about having upto 20 blooms on every plant that you have. Can you imagine the head scratching, picking 4 blooms, if you had 100 all out at once. ;D

Here are some photos from my show last Saturday, they arent very good as there was lots of entries and the vases were squashed together and also by the time I had got round to taking the photos it was the afternoon and they had been moved about so some of the blooms had been moved about. Daleko jupiter Marys Jomanda Blytons softer gleam and the last one my trophy!
