Unfortunately I don't know anyone who grows it. I may cut it and take it to the show tomorrow and if I bump into Sion i'll ask him. However, just had a walk round the garden and spotted these amongst my Ryecroft Zoe. The 3 circled are growing on one stem, the other 7 or 8 on the left of it are the same plant. Definitely different

Its not fair you getting all these sports. I have not had any plant sport in 20 years. Looks like you may have another sport to your collection Scrumpy.

What with your seedlings and my sports, we should set up in business Will have to check if I have any side shoots on them for cuttings. If I can get some it'll make a nice new addition. As you can see from the original, it makes a nice bloom.....i'm growing 10 up off side shoots with little disbudding ,it has been grown without covers, and has withstood a lot of very heavy rain. All you need for garden decoration as well as exhibition.

Sion came down before he went to the show to have a look at the sports, and also to check how many blooms he could cut for his display at Southport. The goldcrest has reverted back to cherwell, but he was more than enthusiastic about the zoe. He is coming down on Tuesday to take some cuttings off it and will grow it on as I don't want to lose what few opportunities there are to root it and he is better at doing whatever he has to do with it than me. I'll be left with some easier material to take cuttings later hopefully. This is it in it's glory. Slightly lighter colour than the picture. It's form is spot on ....looks better than it's parent, and size wise it hits the ring. If we can get this one sorted I can hear the tills ringing already

That is a sure fire winner on the show bench, money in your pocket with that one. Fingers crossed Sion gets plenty of propagation material from it.

Have managed 4 rooted cuttings off it so far. Taken 2 more today. Will get the grow lights out soon and hopefully keep them growing over the winter.

As an update, out of 6 plants, they all suffered a bit over winter, but 2 looked reasonable. I had to cut them back and one produced a tuber that is showing 2 eyes, one is producing a bit of fresh leaf growth that I may be able to get a cutting off. The other 4 tubers that they produced aren't showing anything.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead I think that my Nuland's Josephine has sported given me a weird bi-colour large pom. The lower half is as Nuland's Josephine should be however the upper half is a deep burgundy similar to Moor Place in colour, but the camera doesn't capture the colour properly. So far both blooms from the plant have the same. I would like to know whether this is a proper sport or just some weird effect due to the warm weather ? before I get my hopes up :S I have hopefully managed to post the photos underneath Side View Top View

Hi Gareth, IT is a very early bloom a colour change as it appears here may be due to the hot weather or may be have you fed the plants recently., this could also have an effect as your blooms have. If all the blooms are like that then I would suggest it will not do very well on the bench as it would be very difficult to match up and also looks like it has faded so again would not be very good on the bench, but nice enough as a cut flower or for a basket. Good luck for the future

Good luck for the future Hi Ian,
I had fed the plants with chempak (no.4) as the buds were beginning to open but since that they've only been watered, it has been sunny and hot (30C all last week) so that could have possibly affected the blooms. The flowers look a bit better in real life as the fading is less obvious and the colours are less washed out

First of my Zoe sports are opening. Looks like they've held the colour. In the end I managed 12 cuttings, but on planting and growing 3 looked a bit dodgey so off they went to the bin. Of the remaining 9, 6 have been " Textbook grown", ie, they are all flowering off the crown bud, at least 10 laterals per plant. A total first for me. Those 6 plants were rooted 15th May. Most of those will be ready for Southport
